What is Holistic Health?
Holistic Health is the practice of working with the "whole" person to improve overall health, energy, and outlook. Rather than a disease based approach to health care - see a doctor, take a pill, rinse and repeat - a holistic practitioner uses a wellness-based model to treat everything - mind, body, spirit, and beyond. Practitioners that focus on your entire wellbeing.
A primary field of holistic health, holistic nutrition, works with individuals and groups to improve their nutritional intake, but also to act as a peer mentor to make sure those improvements take hold, and prosper. Practitioners such as Nutritional Therapy Practitioners, Wellness Coaches, and Holistic Nutrition Consultants, to name a few.

What kind of education do practitioners have?
Holistic Practitioners come from a myriad of backgrounds and education. Each receives instruction on basic nutrition, lifestyle, and wellness. This is supported by intensive training in minerals and nutrients, the endocrine system, nutritional detoxification, digestion, blood sugar, fatty acids, and hydration. Practitioners may also receive course instruction in major areas of science, such as anatomy and physiology, botany and herbalism, and chemistry.

Graduates of certain schools are automatically certified in several areas of holistic health. Board Certification is an extra step that gives clients an extra level of confidence that their practitioner is highly qualified.
